New Website

Christian Bertschy

Feb. 28, 2013

Welcome everybody to the new home of django CMS! This is the first major announcement this year and definitely not the last.

But more on that later. First of all I want to thank all (former and current) Divio employees for making this website a reality, as well as the folks who helped us with testing it. Let me quickly guide you through the new website explaining what has already been done and what you can expect next.

Overall look and feel

The goal of the new website was to make it easier for anyone to sell django CMS to their clients or superiors. First, we tried to give it a new, more serious and mature look and feel. Whilst still using the old logo, but now featured more often in solid white or black. We hope you like it!

And yes, the pony is mostly gone.*

Upcoming

In this section we will keep you up-to-date about new features, projects or products surrounding django CMS. Right now it shows a glimpse of the upcoming version 3.

Case Studies

The case study section was introduced to demonstrate django CMS as enterprise-ready (yes, I said it). Here, cool websites built with the CMS will be chosen and presented. At the moment it is quite Divio centric, so please do help us change that. If you have a website that is nicely done and illustrates the potential of django CMS, submit your project. We will contact you with the necessary information needed to finalise your case study.

All submissions - after a quick check - will be listed.

E-Commerce

This is the new home of django-shop.org . We want to showcase that it is the perfect e-commerce extension for django CMS by extending its spotlight.

Add-Ons

Add-Ons replaces the section formally known as extensions, and offers all django CMS and django SHOP extensions. Work here is on-going, step one is to make this section more attractive over the next couple of months whilst improving the information density of the add-ons.

In the near future you can get involved by uploading and mangaging your add-ons by yourself.

Support

The new support section is the new central place to find the answers to your questions. You'll find the links to documentation, mailing lists or our issue tracker, as well as information on how to report security issues.

Demo

We spent a lot of time and effort to build our own cloud solution to host the demos. Over the last couple of months we have been testing it on the previous websites with demos. Over 15'000 demos have been deployed since and stability is improving every day. As a new feature you can now also choose between different releases (incl. a highly experimental 3.0).

Check back in over the next few months to see how the use of the cloud is progressing.

Don't forget to sign up for a django CMS login here  to stay tuned about the latest updates and get early access to upcoming features.

Backed by Divio

Divio was always playing a big part in the development of django CMS and with the phrase «backed by Divio» we want to assure everyone out there that we will keep our promise. This year we will be present at various events such as Cebit, PyCon US and DjangoCon EU (with more to be announced). If you want to meet some of the core developers of django CMS, this is the right place to do so.

That said, without the help of the hundreds of developers working on this open source project, django CMS wouldn't be nearly as far as it is today. So, let me take this opportunity to thank you for your great contributions over the last years! Together we can continue to keep django CMS a great piece of software.

So let us know what you think, what you would like to see in the next version on our mailing lists  or feel free to send us a mail: [email protected]

Regards,

Christian

* Rumor has it that it still haunts the website even after its death. Kids on the street tell horror stories about a blue flying pony with magical powers that only appears if you know the key to its secret.

That said, kids often naively accept manipulated information, if you know what i mean.
